Hidden Stories
Guided Visit to Bath Jewish Burial Ground
Established in 1812, the Bath Jewish Burial Ground, the only surviving physical site of the city's Georgian and Victorian Jewish community, is one of the city’s most significant yet least known historic sites. This guided visit explores the origins of the community, the legal and social context in which they lived, and brings to life some of the individuals whose names are recorded on its headstones. From merchants and tradesmen to family networks extending across Britain and Europe, the burial ground reflects patterns of migration, enterprise and integration. This is more than a tour of a cemetery - it is an invitation to see Bath through a different lens and to encounter the human stories that history books often overlook.
