    The Demeter

    Boogie Nachts Theatre

Fresh from a sell-out run in Bristol, Boogie Nachts Theatre beckons you aboard this hilariously macabre comedy taken from between the pages of Bram Stoker's Dracula!

On the docks of Whitby harbour The Demeter, a Russian merchant ship, pulls into view. Her crew are missing and, at the wheel, the corpse of her dear captain is bound with a look of terror etched across his face. Below deck there is no cargo aside from several wooden crates marked from Transylvania.

THE DEMETER is the creeping comic retelling of Dracula's journey to England. Aboard the eponymous ship, a crew of miscreant sailors must confront the growing evil that looms over them: English Imperialism! Plus someone keeps biting them on the neck. For some reason.

THE DEMETER is the sell-out production from Boogie Nachts Theatre, the team responsible for the Bristol Sitcom Trials, Checkpoint Dave (2014) and Good Little Boy (2015).

Writer Lewis Cook is a graduate of the National Film and Television School. His work has appeared on BBC Radio Four’s Dead Ringers, Newsjack and Please Use Other Door. He won “Best Comedy” at the 2017 Moors Theatre Awards and was a finalist at the Leicester Square Theatre Sketch Off, So You Think You Write Funny and the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up Award. THE DEMETER is his second stage play, following 2015’s Good Little Boy.

Director Laura Ollerton met Boogie Nachts Theatre whilst hogging stage time at the Bristol Sitcom Trials. Soon after, she directed their debut stage play, Good Little Boy (2015). She is a stand-up comedian turned writer; one half of elderly character podcast Wisdom of the Aged and co-writer of Waves of Passion, set to hit bookshelves and podcast fans' earholes in 2024.

Writer/Producer Vince Stadon is the author of Hounded! My Lifelong Obsession with Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles, and Counting Draculas: Binge Watching the Prince of Darkness. He’s written gags for BBC Wales, and plays for the Bath and Manchester Comedy Festivals. He was the producer for the Bristol Sitcom Trials, and his comedy play Sherlock Holmes and the Devil’s Whisper.

Boogie Nachts Theatre also produces "Terror In Turtlenecks" - a semi-regular comedy night of ghoulish short stories and comfy knitwear.
